okay okay, so i've been slacking! it's been a full week since my last post. i do have a bit of an excuse though, i started a new position at my company this week! i am now a Rail Transportation Coordinator! MUCH different from my previous Marketing position. this has definitely kept me distracted recently, although it hasn't changed the fact that i am still impatiently awaiting spring time. it's been rainy and cold so far this march and i have some major spring fever.

So on that note, thank you ModCloth for this awesome post last week. these images scream spring, and it couldn't make me smile more. i've done a few things around my house to "spring" up my surroundings. adding bright colors anywhere and everywhere most definitely helps. this weekend the plan is to get out and do some yard work. i can't wait to pick out some bright spring flowers to plant in my garden! :)

i am a couple days late on my Oscar post, but i couldn't go without sharing my favorite dresses! all the purples won me over, followed by some other personal standouts. E! can say whatever they want, Scarlett's dress for sure stood out on the Red Carpet. my other fav's are below as well.

i must admit, yellow has never really been my color. i'm a fair skinned redhead, so not a great combo. BUT lately i've been crazy drawn to YELLOW! not just in clothes, shoes & accessories but all facets of design; yellow walls especially. it's just so cheerful and inviting. and as cold winter weather is dragging along, it definitely helps temporarily pull me out of that 'mind funk.'

today is a dreary day in northwest arkansas. not a great way to start a monday or the work week. ironic enough on my drive to work "Rainy Monday" by Shiny Toy Guns came on my XM.... talk about coincidence. the song mentions the days of summer....and i couldn't help but start longing for spring time. we've had a few days of warm weather which was a huge tease. week before last we made it through 10+ inches of snow and -15 degree weather at one point. then this past weekend people were out walking their dogs, strolling their kiddos, joggin, & just enjoying the 70 degree weather! but alas, cold weather is back on the radar this week.

today after cleaning house i practiced with my new canon digital SLR that i got for christmas. i have to admit i am not even close to shooting manual yet, but i am determined to learn! below are some of the shots i snapped, accompanied by other past practice shots....

i like the shadows in this pic. the frame collage is one of my projects. i bought a box of brown frames on craiglist and painted/distressed them. the photos are my travel photos from Europe.

i think one of the main reasons i can't stop watching HGTV is i have this fascination with the before and after effect. in interior design especially, the transformation can be so refreshing. i am majorly guilty of turning my nose up at pieces i've owned for a long time. i rarely catch myself thinking with some re-purpose and creativity something once boring can become something that really stands out.

this is one of the main reasons i am a crazy stalker of designsponge.com. i've mentioned this site in a previous post, but today i was once again blown away by some of the featured before and after projects. (i'm sure it won't be the last time)

this definitely got my creativity flowing, so i thought i'd share! hats off to Libby Nikkel whose rockin transformation was posted on design sponge today......

well, as far as my over-ambitious daily blogging goal goes. i really did want to keep up with my blog, but you know...things, they happen! and I procrastinated! but its a new year and we all appreciate resolutions, right?

Hello there! I have finally recovered from the dreadful loss against Alabama this past weekend, so on to bigger and brighter things. Fayetteville is bumping this week with Bikes, Blues, and BBQ coming to town. It is our annual bike festival where over 400,000 bikers visit our little town. Craziness! Luckily Citizen Cope is coming to do a show at George's tonight. He is one of the only things that can drag me out into the madness on Dickson Street....

Back on topic-I would like to share my favorite blog with you on the net these days. I spend time on this site daily because it stimulates my creativity and gives me all sorts of fun ideas. So totally off blog topic-but I feel I need to give a shout out to my two TOP 10 RANKED TEAMS. Yeah that's right #4 TCU playing tonight against rival SMU for the Iron Skillet, and #10 Arkansas taking on #1 Bama tomorrow in Fayetteville. Both of these are huge games so WOOOO PIG & RAH RAH TCU!

Yes, yes I know I said in my first blog I wanted to be uber proactive and post things daily... Yep-not living in a movie! Well the movie is actually a true story, so I must say I'm impressed with Julie's dedication to post every day for a year...bravo! (Step onto soapbox) That movie really teased with my senses. Made me extremely hungry and bothered simultaneously. Sinfully delicious food on one hand, causing my mouth to water, and exceedingly annoying shreaks on the other (sorry ears) thanks to Julia Child's infamous tone of voice. "Hiiiiiiii I'm Juuuuuuuuulia Chiiiiiiiilds." Ahh please stop whining out your vowels! Although, as irritated as I was, it didn't ruin the fact that Meryl Streep is still one of my heroes. (Step off soapbox) Hmm, come to think of it, I guess your entire blog is like a soapbox...but woh--that goes too deep for me.

My problem is that I have found that designing my blog (adding the fun buttons, signatures, fonts, etc) is actually more entertaining than posting or blogging itself! I came home from work yesterday and rather than going to spin class, I crawled in my bed with my MacBook and read tutorial after tutorial about coding and photobooking. Can someone say NERD? I actually feel more "tech-savvy" if at all possible. I was bragging about this to my boyfriend last night. He is a computer science guru so I carried on exclaiming "look at me, look at me! I can HTML code!" And for some reason that gives me a sense of coolness (sad day).

So back to my so-called excuses for procrastination 1) Football season just started 2) I attended a birthday celebration last weekend (which led to daytime recovery) 3) TV PREMIRE WEEK! Number 3 is the kicker. I've been long awaiting the preimere of the buzzed about HBO series "Boardwalk Empire," along with my CWTV high school show indulgences 90210, Gossip Girl, & One Tree Hill. Woo hoo, not ashamed! And not to mention new Modern Family, Cougar Town, Grey's, Private Practice...and the most anticipated of them all....GLEE!

Glee is my guilty pleasure. Period. When Rachel sang "Telephone" with the new girl in the bathroom I was beltin' it.....

Now that I have officially gone in a completely different direction than the original focus of this blog, I suppose I should slowly reeeeeel myself back in. As mini-first projects I painted a few frames (pictured below). I got on Craiglist, bought a $10 box of paints, $20 box of old frames, and numerous other new arty things. I even got myself an awesome antqiue shelf for my supplies (pictured below-sorry for blur) from my all time favorite store in Fayetteville, The Flying Dog. Become a fan....http://en-gb.facebook.com/pages/Fayetteville-AR/Flying-Dog-Vintage-Mall/101119758554 because it is awesome. Anyway! These two frames started out as old, plain brown wood. But I brought them back to life! I painted the first one a glossy, lime green. The second was painted blue at first, but I felt it needed more...so I gave it a distressed look. Okay, okay two posts in one day I know. I'm not an obsessed weirdo, I promise. I just thought I'd explain what most will wonder when they see the URL, title, and signatures to my blog.

"Rag-N-Bone"!?! Nope, not the clothes line.

Well my friends--It is the epitome of this blog. Thanks to the music geniuses Jack & Meg White of the White Stripes (one of my all time favorite bands) their song, Rag and Bone, says it all....

I ran into a book at Barnes and Noble that is pure genius. It's called "Junk Beautiful" by Sue Whitney & KI Nassauer. These rockin' ladies raid the flea markets, buy some junk, and make that junk into a glorious finished product. I don't know what is so intriguing to me about this process, but it's amazing. People throw out things they see as old, damaged, and well..JUNK! But thankfully there are those out there that can take these nothings and turn them into something sweet, something beautiful. In the words of my boyfriend, "SWISH!" These cool people can be known as "Junkers," and I'm setting out to become one myself. Booya!

"Hm-Why Start Now?"

I asked myself this question today. Honestly- I've never had that itch to "blog" "tweet" or express my inner thoughts, opinions, assumptions, etc to the World Wide Web. I've always thought "Who Cares?" (Kinda still do, haha)

So? Why start now?

Recently I have felt compelled to design....create.....fix. I guess the true "DIY" spirit inside me has decided to make its appearance. This past June I bought my very first home. Yes me! By myself! (Sorry-I do run into haters) I just turned 24 years old , so I'm pretty pumped about this big step officially introducing me into the "grown up" world. As much as it sucks growing up, it has its perks at the same time. And being a home owner also has that bitter-but-oh-so-sweet feeling....

Before moving in I figured I would try and muster up some extra money to hire a fancy interior decorator. Who knows why, it could have been the initial pressure to make my house "perfect" so I could naturally fit into Suburbia--or my own little Pleasantville! Luckily I live in downtown Fayetteville, AR (keep it funky) and LUCKILY things took a turn for the better. I slapped myself, came back to reality, put on my big girl panties, and in the process discovered a new love!

So after what seems to be my endless blabbing, let me get back to the whole point of this blog creation. My little house explains it all. It was built in the 1930's, so many personalities have come in and out of its life...ah the character! This past year it was completely renovated from ground up, but it still has the lovely charm of a 1930's bungalow. (Pictures to follow soon)

There it is--->My discovery. I love old. I love character. I love antique. I love old fashioned-vintage-ahhh, I'm smiling right now. THE POSSIBILITIES! So what in the heck does all this mean? And why am I telling you? Because I am off to explore a new passion of mine, and blogging about it will make it all the more real. I'm hoping for this blog to give me a little push, a little purpose, and alot of accountability to stay with it.
And along the way my goal is to share this exploration with the World Wide Web....Julie and Julia style! So...watch for updates (Before and After's, DIY projects, things I Love, etc). More than likely this will be total randomness...Here we go....
